What joins us as Syrians — history, destiny and hope — is far greater than what divides us
"The war has exhausted us, the disputes have scattered us, and the crises have weighed down our shoulders; but there is still a pulse of life in us, and there are still among us those who sow, and teach, and heal, and love". So let our unity be the strongest weapon, and tolerance the bridge by which we cross towards a better future. Let us rebuild our homeland not with stones alone, but with trust, with justice, and with mutual recognition. Let us listen to one another, extend our hands to one another, heal our wounds together, and write a new chapter in the history of Syria, whose title is: dignity, freedom, and shared living."
Vision for Syria
My vision is that the country has begun to recover and will flourish economically through the strength of our people and the strength of our government with the people's support. We shall bring Syria to the shore of safety, so that it may be among the ranks of the advanced nations, God willing, and we shall rebuild it by the arms of its sincere people. O people of proud Syria, you who have carried on your shoulders the burdens of the years, who have been patient through the ordeals, and who have clung to hope despite the wounds… I address you today with a word from the heart, a word that does not distinguish between sect or confession or nationality, but celebrates our shared humanity, our deep roots in this good earth, and our right, all of us, to live in dignity and peace.
